We now offer all of our printer models with polyethylene plastic
tubing. All of our CIS Kits and Printers will now automatically
with this new polyethylene tubing no matter which ink (if any)
that you choose. We have done a lot of testing over the past few
years and have concluded that PVC tubing causes pigment ink to
plug the tubes and causes dye ink to thicken in the tube over
time. PVC tubing is what everybody uses for their CIS systems
except for COBRA INK SYSTEMS and Epson. Polyethylene tubing
resists dehydration of the ink in the tube. This tubing also
works well for solvent-based ink. We have it available in bulk,
sold by the foot. Unfortunately, this tubing costs us 5 times as
much as PVC tubing, but we feel that in the long run it saves
you (our customers) money and less of a headache.
Cobra Ink System's was started in
1999, the very first ink system was made to fit an Epson
Stylus Color 600. We were printing vanity plates for cars in
Tennessee which did not have a front license plate tags as we called them. At that time, all the colors were made in one cartridge. We received a large order for tags which had a solid red background, after printing just a few we needed a new cartridge.
We decided to try refilling the cartridge using a syringe and needle as well as using ink we purchased from a large distributor. The cartridges had a sponge inside that made refilling a nightmare; by the time you were able to get it to print it was out of ink again. We also had concerns about the print fading in the sun light. We talked to our ink supplier about using ultra violet resistant inks. We inquired about an ink supply system; and He stated he had seen it all and nothing worked. We asked him if we created one could he sell it. He replied, I think I could sell 150 units per day if they work. Our engineers developed a system that worked great and sent 6 units to their warehouse.
The rest is history and we have been producing quality CIS every since!
